Ulrike Passe, associate professor of architecture and director of the ISU Center for Building Energy Research, presented “Integrating Landscape Tactics Into Building Energy Performance Evaluation Based On Urban Morphometry,” a paper she co-authored with Mira Engler, professor of landscape architecture; Hossein Entezari, graduate student in landscape architecture; and Victoria Goetz (BLA 2018 Landscape Architecture / MUD 2019 Urban Design), at the Virtual International Passive Low Energy Architecture (PLEA) Conference.

This paper presents landscape strategies and spatial design guidelines for high-, medium- and low-density urban and suburban spatial typologies to improve urban microclimate for buildings and surrounding environments. The research was funded by an Institute for Design Research and Outreach (IDRO) Research Grant in 2019.
