Sungduck Lee, an Iowa State University lecturer in architecture and urban design, with Emily Talen, professor of urbanism at the University of Chicago, has co-authored Design for Social Diversity, 2nd EditionĀ (Routledge, 2018), which addresses the physical requirements of socially diverse neighborhoods. Using the city of Chicago and its surrounding suburban areas as a case study, this book investigates whether social diversity is related to particular patterns and structures found within the urban built environment. Design for Social Diversity provides urban designers and architects with design strategies and tools to ensure that their work sustains and nurtures social diversity. The book is part of the Routledge Equity, Justice and Sustainable City series.
