“Tea and Conversation: A tribute to the tea ladies of Khartoum, Sudan,” a project by Rami Mannan, assistant teaching professor in architecture, runs on weekends through July at OL Guild in West Des Moines. The project, developed based on experiences with tea ladies’ spatial and economic practices in Khartoum, explores the rituals of gathering, conversing, listening and reflecting in the company of friends and strangers while waiting for tea to be served. Register for remaining in-person events scheduled from 6:30–8:30 p.m. July 10, July 23, July 24, July 30 and July 31. You can also participate in a listening project.
