Raluca Iancu

Author: Heather Sauer

Raluca Iancu, assistant professor of art and visual culture, received an American Rescue Plan Grant for her project “Mokuhanga in Iowa.” Iancu was scheduled to travel to Japan in summer 2020 to study Mokuhanga — a traditional water-based woodblock-printing technique — with Japanese masters; the project was initially pushed to summer 2021, but travel still was not possible because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The grant will facilitate her research into Mokuhanga through self-study and online instruction with American practitioners.
