“Angels and Animales,” an essay by art and visual culture associate teaching professor Paula Streeter, is included in the first edition of New Letters Online and will be available to read online Nov. 22–Dec. 8. Streeter, who holds a BFA (1997), MA (2000) and MFA (2011) from Iowa State, wrote the piece while in grad school and it was first published in the print version of New Letters Magazine, Vol. 72, Spring/Summer 2006. The essay relates a series of events that occurred while she was living in San Juancito, Honduras, and working on an economic development project to create an environmentally friendly paper company in the wake of Hurricane Mitch.
