Miriam Martincic, assistant teaching professor in graphic design, was awarded a Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators for “Box,” an image that conveys the suffering of migrant children in crowded detention centers. This is her second Gold Medal, one of the highest awards in the illustration industry.
In addition to “Box,” Martincic’s images “Good Grief” and “Good vs Bad” also were accepted into the society’s annual exhibition. “Box” and “Good Grief” were self-initiated pieces judged in the Uncommissioned category, which will be displayed in Illustrators 64 Part One Jan. 7–Feb. 12, 2022. Completed for a client, “Good vs Bad” was judged in the Editorial category, which will be exhibited in Illustrators 64 Part Two Feb. 16–March 19, 2022. All work will be on display at the Society of Illustrators Museum of Illustration in New York City.
