The American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA) has published the “Story Behind the Art of Kimberly Moss,” in which Moss describes her fascination with the plant commonly known as Dutchmen’s Breeches (Decentra cucullaria) and other small but complex organisms, and the process she follows to observe, photograph, research and sketch them before creating her final artwork. Moss is an assistant professor of art and visual culture and coordinator of the biological and premedical illustration program at Iowa State University.
