Julie Irish and Yongyeon Cho, assistant professors of interior design, are co-authors of “Introducing Undergraduate Students to First-Hand Research: A Tale from the Front Line,” an essay accepted for the IDEC (Interior Design Educators Council) Exchange spring issue. The essay is about the ARTID 367 Interior Design Studio III they taught last spring (2019) in which they introduced an evidence-based design research component, with students interviewing older adults from a local senior-living facility. They received a 2019 College of Design Curriculum-Based Design Outreach Grant to develop the studio project.
