EducationUSA, a part of the United States Department of State, invited Diane Al Shihabi, associate professor of interior design, and Mikesch Muecke, associate professor of architecture, to present opportunities in cultural heritage studies to prospective graduate students in Morocco.

EducationUSA has a network of more than 400 international student-advising centers in over 170 countries. Al Shihabi and Muecke collaborated with cultural-property experts from the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the State Department and with personnel at the American Embassy in Morocco on the development of this event.

Their presentation on “Cultural Heritage and Diplomatic Properties: Creating Accessibility Through Pedagogical Innovation” covered career opportunities and academic/technical training available in graduate studies through the preservation and cultural heritage program at Iowa State. The following week EducationUSA Morocco highlighted Iowa as a place to study on their Facebook page.
