Carlos Cardoso, associate professor and director of graduate education in the Department of Industrial Design, was an invited keynote speaker at the biennial Canadian Design Workshop (CDW) Dec. 7–9 at the University of Waterloo. The CDW is modeled after the Clive L. Dym Mudd Design Workshops and held in collaboration with the Center for Design Teaching at Harvey Mudd College. In his presentation, “Undefining design futures: broadening knowledge and competencies,” Cardoso shared the inspiration, reasoning and challenges behind (re)inventing a new graduate program for industrial design, and its connections with engineering education and technologies of the future.
