Aspen Pflanz, an incoming Iowa State University graduate student in community and regional planning, has received a $1,000 scholarship from the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America Region II. She received a Bachelor of Science with a double major in history and political science from Iowa State in 2017 and worked as a public relations assistant for ISU University Museums after graduation. This summer she is doing research with the Story City Historical Society for a 2019 publication about the town’s World War I soldiers before beginning her graduate studies this fall. Pflanz also will be one of the first students enrolled in the new Certificate in Preservation and Cultural Heritage graduate program.
