“Playing in ‘The Backyard’: Environmental Features and Conditions of a Natural Playspace Which Support Diverse Outdoor Play Activities among Younger Children,” an article co-authored by Adina Cox, lecturer in landscape architecture, has been published in International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, 2022; 19 (19):12661.

Over the summer, another article Cox co-authored, “An Intervention to Increase Outdoor Play in Early Childhood Education Centers (PROmoting Early Childhood Outside): Protocol for a Pilot Wait-list Control Cluster Randomized Trial,” was published in Journal of Medical Internet Research Res Protoc. 2022 Jul 12;11(7):e38365.

As of Sept. 30, 2022, “Tool for Observing Play Outdoors (TOPO): A New Typology for Capturing Children’s Play Behaviors in Outdoor Environments,” an article co-authored by Cox and published in IJERPH in 2020, had been downloaded 4,826 times.

The Routledge Handbook of Designing Public Spaces for Young People: Processes, Practices and Policies for Youth Inclusion, a book Cox co-edited, has come out in paperback. It received a 2022 EDRA Great Places Award Honorable Mention for Place Book in June.
