Research Interests
History of photography, especially circulation and distribution of photographic imagery, with attention to how photographic meaning shifts and accrues as images circulate in publications, change hands among users, or are appropriated to new ends. Particular interest in circulation of photographs addressing difficult topics, including poverty; war, conflict and violence; pornography; and animal slaughter.
