Practical Experience

Many architecture students choose to complete one or more internships to build professional connections, gain experience in the field, or begin accumulating hours required to become a licensed, registered architect. Students are not required to complete an internship but those who participate in internships graduate with unique experience and exposure to the profession. Internships are a great way to learn more about an organization, geographic location or specific area of architecture.

Anyone wishing to take the Architecture Registration Exam (ARE) to become a registered architect must first work professionally as an intern architect for about three years. You may begin working toward fulfilling the requirement by completing an internship after your third year of study in the Bachelor of Architecture degree program.
