Applications open for new Iowa Lakeside Laboratory public art and ecology artist residency
Iowa Lakeside Laboratory and Imagine Iowa Great Lakes have launched a new Public Art and Ecology Artist-in-Residence Program open to artists and designers working in any media. Beginning in summer 2021, the 8- to 12-week residency will provide an immersive experience in the ecology, science and natural history of the Iowa Great Lakes region. It includes room, board and studio space; access to lectures, researchers and field-study activities at Lakeside Lab; a $5,000 stipend and a $10,000 budget toward execution of a temporary public art project that engages local residents and visitors in the natural systems that make up the region. An initial application is due by Monday, Nov. 9. Contact program director Alex Braidwood, associate professor of graphic design, with questions.
