Faculty, staff invited to session on competitive international opportunities for students

ISU’s Study Abroad Center invites faculty and staff to learn more about nationally competitive awards for students, including the Boren Awards, during an information session at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in 3534 Memorial Union. It will be repeated at noon in the same location. It will feature a representative of the Institute of International Education, New York City. The Boren Awards offer undergraduate and graduate students opportunities to study abroad and learn less commonly taught languages. After studying abroad, Boren winners are expected to work in national security positions in the U.S. government. Strong applicants for a Boren Award — and other awards — come from diverse backgrounds and academic disciplines, and faculty and staff are needed to encourage students to apply.
