City seeks public input on improving Welch Avenue
City of Ames staff will host an open house this afternoon, Sept. 6, to gather input on planned improvements to the 100-block of Welch Avenue (between Lincoln Way and Chamberlain Avenue). The street will be reconstructed in 2019-20. The open house will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Ames Public Library auditorium, 515 Douglas Ave. There is no formal presentation, but different streetscape options will be available for people to view, with variations in features such as sidewalks, bike lanes, vegetation and on-street parking. Individuals also may complete the city’s Welch Avenue online survey through Sept. 16.
