McDonough is new college development director
Kim McDonough has joined the College of Design as our new director of development. In this role, she will work closely with the dean on fundraising priorities for the college and will establish long-term relationships with our alumni and friends, working to match their philanthropic interests with the college’s needs.
McDonough had served as the director of alumni relations for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences since January 2014, and previously spent eight years in the Greenlee School of Journalism and Mass Communication in positions including academic adviser, internship coordinator, program coordinator and assistant to the director. She recently completed a four-year term as an ISU Alumni Association board member and served as chair of the university’s Alumni Relations Council. She is also a professional member of the Iowa State Daily publication board.
McDonough received a BA in journalism and mass communication with a minor in English in 2002, MS in journalism and mass communication in 2004 and PhD in education in 2017, all from Iowa State. She and her husband, Dustin, also a 2002 journalism and mass communication graduate, live in Ames with their cat, Marston. Dustin is a digital marketing coordinator for McFarland Clinic in Ames.
