Fall 2017 United Way Campaign
I hope you all saw your United Way campaign envelopes in campus mail last week. I know that this probably feels like one more piece of junk mail but I truly think that this is an important cause for our college community to consider. If you don’t know much about the United Way, here is a quick summary.
The United Way is the world’s largest privately-funded nonprofit. United Way advances the common good by creating opportunities for all. The focus is on education, income and health–the building blocks for a good quality of life and a strong community. United Way goes beyond temporary fixes to create lasting change that lifts up entire communities around the world. By bringing people and organizations together around innovative solutions, United Way impacts millions of lives. For more information see www.unitedway.org.
The College of Design is committed to helping United Way of Story County reach those goals. Throughout the next few weeks, Sarah Klahs and I will be reminding you to donate to the United Way through your pledges and activities that we have planned; Pizza and Pop sales, Dean Rico-Gutierrez’s parking pass for a week, a bake sale and a food drive among many others! [See our currently planned events here]
Our first event will be Pizza and Pop this Friday from 11-1 in the atrium. Please come join us for some great pizza and please consider sending those pledge cards to the United Way!
