ARCH 202 design-build project reception at Reliable Street April 24
The Iowa State University second-year architecture studio (ARCH 202) is in the final stages of completing its latest design/build project involving the entire 86-person class. The project, titled SHIFT, is a permanent outdoor public space that integrates both seating and places for play. At night, it will be illuminated with an architectural light display powered by a solar panel system donated by local Ames company PowerFilm.
An opening reception for SHIFT will be at 7 p.m. (dusk) Monday, April 24, at Reliable Street, 4625 Reliable St. in Ames. Light refreshments will be provided. All are welcome to attend.
The ARCH 202 studio was invited by the Reliable Street artists’ collective to design a new installation for its upcoming opening. Reliable Street is a nonprofit organization which is developing an entrepreneurial incubator and community space with live music, food, coffee and a bar. Several College of Design faculty members as well as local Iowa artists are participating in the effort. The project is supported by Reliable Street and a 2017 Curriculum Based Outreach Fund grant.
