Daniel James Stephans
Daniel Stephans (BArch 1971 Architecture), AIA, is the recipient of the Wisconsin Historical Society’s 2020 Historic Preservation Award for his years of service specializing in historic preservation and restoration. Stephans worked as the Wisconsin chief state architect for 25 years and guided numerous projects to completion, including the restoration of the Wisconsin State Capitol Building, which took over 10 years.
For 15 years, Stephans has served on the State Historic Preservation Review Board, providing his expertise to the board overall and to the Architecture Committee. He also serves on the Taliesen Preservation Board of Trustees in Spring Green and is the chair of the Evansville Historic Preservation Commission.
