By day, Mohamad Hafez (BArch 2009 Architecture) is an architect with Pickard Chilton in New Haven, Connecticut. In the evenings, he reconstructs the landscapes and cities of his native Syria in miniature, channeling his emotions about that country’s civil war into 3-D replicas of “gutted apartment complexes” and other scenes of chaos and destruction. His work is on display in HOMELAND inSECURITY, a solo show April 2-30 at the Lanoue Gallery in Boston, and highlighted in an April 4 article in The New Yorker. An artist’s talk and reception will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 13, at the gallery.
