The College of Design offers students a variety of study abroad experiences throughout the world.
 
Rome Program
The College's flagship Rome Program allows students to study for a semester or a summer in their chosen discipline while they take classes that are fully integrated with the ISU curriculum. Click here for more information.

Students interested in participating in this experience for summer and fall 2008 should be sure to sign up for Dsn S 301 section 1 in spring 2008.

 
Field Studies in Chinese Art and Architecture
Each summer (next offering is May 2008), architecture students can travel to China for three weeks to study Chinese art, architecture, landscape, and urban design. The program features direct interaction with leading Chinese artists, architects, landscape, and urban designers and first-hand experience of Chinese art treasures, landmark Chinese natural and built environment. Students will be exposed to the social, economic, and political forces that shape the paradigm of Chinese art and built forms.

Cities of the Czech Republic
For the first time in May 2008, students can travel to the Czech Republic for three weeks to study Czech architecture. Students will have the opportunity to visit  Prague, Olomouc, Ostrava, Zlin and Brno to study architecture from medieval times to the 20th century, including communist industrial suburbs.

Pacific Rim Traveling Studio
Every other summer (next offering is tentatively 2008), students can participate in the Pacific Rim Program, which travels through Malaysia, New Zealand and Australia from May to August. Students are provided with the opportunity to undertake an urban design studio exploration while being introduced to and familiarized with different Pacific Rim cultures in urban, suburban and rural environments.
