Work by Ingrid Lilligren, professor of art and design, is in a joint exhibition with sculptor Patricia Ferber at Bunny Gunner Gallery in Pomona, Calif.
"Rhythms: Vessel Forms by Patricia Ferber and Small Pleasures by Ingrid Lilligren" opened March 14. A Last Saturday reception will be from 6 to 9 p.m. March 28, and the show closes April 8.
Lilligren's portion of the exhibition features 120 of her "Small Pleasures," created over the course of one year from dry pastels and eggshells. When she began the project that resulted in 243 total works, she settled on a strict format: a 7"x7" square with a centered circle. By working with limited materials -- dry pastels surrounding the circle where the eggshells are contained -- she was able to explore what it would feel like to do the same thing over and over. In addition, she explained, "You get very creative when you limit yourself."
