Architecture assistant professor Nadia Anderson elected ACSA West Central Regional director

Nadia Anderson, assistant professor of architecture, extension architect and co-director of the ISU Community Design Lab, has been elected director of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture's West Central Region. Beginning July 1, she will serve a three-year term on the ACSA board of directors.

Urban planning professor to address neighborhood impact of housing foreclosures in March 26 lecture at ISU

Andrew Greenlee, assistant professor of urban and regional planning at the University of Urbana-Champaign, will address "The Geography of Risk and Post-Foreclosure Residential Displacement" in a lecture Wednesday, March 26, at Iowa State University. Greenlee's talk will be from 12 to 1 p.m. in room 130 of the ISU College of Design. ISU design students head to Peru to build micro-library

Students from the Iowa State University College of Design and the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences (UPC), Lima, are working with a Lima community organization to develop a micro-library for the El Carmen neighborhood in Comas, one of the capital city's many informal suburbs. The class will showcase its collaborative project from 3 to 6 p.m. today, March 7, at Design on Main, 207 Main St., Ames. Students also are collecting book donations to help supply the library. In "The Artists Next Door," a series of workshops in Sioux City this spring, artist and Iowa State University faculty member Jennifer Drinkwater invites local high school students to explore what it means to be an active "artist citizen" in their community. Design students to share work inspired by Paris visit

For five days in January, a small group of students from Iowa State University's College of Design rubbed shoulders with professional interior designers, interior design manufacturers and design publication editors from around the world who gathered in France for the annual Maison et Objet Paris and Paris Decó Off—interior design's equivalent of Fashion Week. The students—seven from the undergraduate interior design program and one from the graduate industrial design program— were part of a two-credit studio workshop and study-abroad course taught by Lee Cagley, professor and chair of the ISU interior design department. They will share their work in a final review from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, in room 077 College of Design. The presentation is free and open to the public. [More...]
