College of Design's PLaCE program, having used the program effectively
for several community projects. A new wellness center has been built
privately in Hampton, and in spring 2006, PLaCE program coordinator
Susan Erickson provided consultation on site-planning considerations
for the facility. Of particular interest were parking-lot design and
maintenance and planting considerations to reduce maintenance inputs.
Erickson also discussed with community leaders the advantages of making
connections via trails to other locations in Hampton, such as the
nearby healthcare facility, the town square, and a future middle school.
