Gary Taylor joined Iowa State University in October 2004 as an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist in the Department of Community & Regional Planning. Mr. Taylor has been involved in municipal government throughout his career: as a State & Local Government Specialist with Michigan State University Extension; a regional planner in Wisconsin; and an attorney and planning consultant for communities in Oregon and Washington. He publishes, conducts workshops and provides technical assistance to citizens and government officials in a variety of subject areas, including land use and local government law, land use planning and intergovernmental contracting. Mr. Taylor is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), and serves as the Professional Development Officer for the Iowa Chapter of the American Planning Association. He holds a law degree from the University of Nebraska and a Masters in Community and Regional Planning from Iowa State University.
