Introduction to Planning and Zoning for Local Officials
Land Use Planning Near Airports (conducted by Iowa Department of Transportation)
 
The Introduction to Planning and Zoning for Local Officials is a three-hour workshop designed to introduce the basic principles of land use planning and development management to elected officials, planning and zoning officials, and board of adjustment members without formal training in the subjects.  Using case scenarios in a highly-interactive format, it will highlight issues frequently faced in the land use process.

Registration Fees
The registration fee is $45 per individual.  This fee is reduced to $35 per individual if a city or county registers 5 or more persons to attend.  The fee covers supper and the workshop materials.  Registration materials and payment must be received at least two weeks before the scheduled date of the workshop you wish to attend.  No registrations will be accepted at the door.

Land Use Planning Near Airports
Sponsored by the Aviation Division of the Department of Transportation, the Land Use Planning Near Airports workshop is focused on providing attendees with a solid understanding of the importance of compatible land uses near local airports, as well as providing available tools and techniques to implement compatible land use measures within their local community.  Each attendee will receive a copy of the recently published Iowa Airport Land Use Guidebook, a copy of the presentation materials, and a copy of a FAR Part 77 Surfaces drawing for the airport of particular concern to you.
 
Registration is free.  Registration will begin at 2:00pm.  The workshop will begin at 2:30pm and conclude by 5:00pm to allow a break prior to the Introduction to Planning and Zoning workshops.  Registration brochures will be mailed to city clerks' offices after the first of the year. Click here if you would like to download a registration brochure for the Land Use Planning Near Airports workshop
