The Iowa's Living Roadways Visioning Program
provides an opportunity for Iowa communities of less than 10,000 people to
access professional landscape planning and design assistance. Through a
series of planning meetings a local, volunteer committee works with a Trees
Forever facilitator, a professional landscape architect, and a design team
from ISU Extension Landscape Architecture to identify potential landscaping
projects and to create several images of what finished projects in their
community might look like. Volunteer Visioning committees across the state
have been successful in developing these projects from this conceptual stage
to detailed plans and finally into implemented landscape plantings. The
