International Wolf Center
Oct. 24, 2011 - May 6, 2012
Sixty artworks by Iowa State University students and faculty who participated in the 2010 and 2011 BPMI 395 Field Illustration courses are on display through May 6, 2012, at the International Wolf Center in Ely, Minn.
The field illustration class travels to the North Shore of Lake Superior and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness at the end of each spring semester. The eight-day field trip gives students the opportunity to learn at education centers and draw from direct observation. The wolf center exhibition features specimen illustrations and landscape drawings and paintings produced during the most recent two courses.
College of Design lecturer Dean Biechler and Associate Professor C. Arthur Croyle, who teach in the integrated studio arts and BPMI programs, contributed 10 works to the show. The remaining 50 pieces are by 32 students ranging from freshmen through seniors in biological and pre-medical illustration (28), architecture (2) and integrated studio arts (2). Read the exhibition statement (PDF) by Biechler, who also serves as the BPMI program coordinator.
"Images from the Lake Superior North Shore and the BWCAW: BPMI 395 Field Illustration" may be viewed from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays at the wolf center.
