Undergraduate Reinstatement Proceedures
Students in the College of Design
who have been dropped from enrollment at Iowa State University
or the College of Design
because of low grades may apply for
reinstatement according to the guidelines in the
ISU Catalog at www.iastate.edu/~catalog. One
of those guidelines states that students who were academically dismissed from Iowa State University
for the first time must wait at least
one
semester (not counting summer session) before they are eligible for
reinstatement, and those who have been dismissed more than once must wait at
least
one academic year. Students who have been dismissed from the College of Design
should consult with their adviser regarding
their options and academic goals.
Applications for
reinstatement through the College of Design
are considered by the Academic Standards Committee, made up of representatives
from the four departments in the college. The following materials must
be submitted at least 45 days before the beginning of the semester for which
reinstatement is requested:

The Academic Standards
Committee meets at least once a month and votes on reinstatements during its
regular monthly meetings. Once a decision on reinstatement has been
reached, a letter indicating the committee's decision is sent to the student,
along with any conditions for reinstatement. After being approved for
reinstatement, students are expected to contact their advisers about
registering for classes. Students may call Design Student Services (515
294-6983) with questions regarding their status or these procedures.
