Design Career Services facilitates employment recruiting of students and offers programming and services supporting students in career development. Staff support employers seeking design students, coordinate events focused on career exploration and recruiting, offer class presentations and one-on-one meetings with students, and can help with outcomes information for accreditations or other reports.

Career fairs & events

Design Career Services offers multiple opportunities for students to meet directly with employers throughout the year. In addition, the office can assist students leading up to the event with preparing their materials and speaking with the organizations, businesses, and individuals who attend to recruit. Please note that field trips that prevent students from attending the Design Career Fair are not permitted.

All recruiting-related events associated with Iowa State University must be co-hosted or administratively managed by a career services office, open to all interested students, and promoted through CyHire to help ensure fair and equal access.  A recruiting event is any event where the focus is on promoting or filling the employment opportunities of one or more employers (i.e talking about specific employment opportunities, collecting resumes, etc.).

Design Career Services coordinates events to facilitate connections with employers including a large fair each spring semester typically hosts 250+ contacts representing 100+ firms and organizations. We typically welcome more than 100 alumni back to campus as firm representatives. Please encourage students to participate, and please consider stopping by to greet our alumni. A reception with firm representatives is held following in-person fairs, and all faculty and staff are welcome.

This event is a casual networking and resource fair designed to facilitate conversations about opportunities, introduce students to career-related resources and work-related topics, facilitate connections, and encourage career exploration.

Design Career Services has partnered with colleagues of the Big 12 to offer the annual Big 12 Virtual Career Fair. More than 120 organizations are participating from locations across the country. Hosting the career fair online allows students from any major around the country to the ability to connect with organizations, alumni, and individuals from the ten Big 12 Universities.
