| About the Program | LIFE IN ROME |
![]() The unique aspects of living abroad constitute an essential part of each of the College of Design programs in Rome. Student participants typically live in traditional Italian apartments generally located within walking distance of or a short bus ride from the studio. Classes typically follow a similar schedule as those on campus, beginning and ending on approximately the same dates, with the exception of the fall session, which begins in Rome after September 1.
Housing is arranged by the International Programs Coordinator prior to departure. Students are given the opportunity to form roommate groups, and those choices are taken into consideration as the housing placements are made. Once in Rome, all students are responsible for all apartment costs, including rent and utilities. Please keep in mind that real estate in Rome, like other major world cities, is expensive. To keep costs down, students should anticipate living in close quarters with one another, typically sharing a bedroom with one or two other students and sharing the apartment with four or six others. Apartments can generally be expected to provide all necessary furniture and household goods.
