Graduate Study in Rome, Summer 2006
Urban Sustainability and Transportation
As is true for all graduate course work, acceptance of any course for credit towards your Program of Study and graduation requires the approval of your Committee. Please speak with Rome faculty and with your Advisor to consider how the Rome program will fit with your Masters program. The 'Rome Contact' for your program can explain the courses/program offerings and direct you to the most appropriate opportunities.
To use the Rome program to contribute towards your thesis work, you will want to work with your Major Professor and a Rome faculty person to develop your research proposal before you go to Rome. Opportunities exist in Transportation, Development, Environment, and Land Use.
Rome Contacts by Program:
ISU Community and Regional Planning: Tara Lynne Clapp
ISU Interdisciplinary MS in Transportation: Dave Plazak
University of Iowa Urban and Regional Planning: John Fuller
Architecture and Landscape Architecture: See Arch/LA page, contact Tara Lynne Clapp
ISU Sustainable Agriculture: Ferro Trabalzi
General
Graduate students can take 6 credits in Summer 2006 in Rome. Nine credits would require cooperative arrangements with faculty and work outside the period that classes are held. Internship arrangements are a possibility, although we do not expect to have paid positions available for Summer 2006.
Iowa State University MCRP
As the MCRP program assumes that the student will have their thesis/professional report proposal in development over the Summer of the first year, the program would be most appropriate for students in the following research areas:
Land Use and Transportation
Environmental Planning and Design
It may be possible to accommodate students in other areas, depending on individual arrangements with faculty in Ames and in Rome.
University of Iowa
Please contact John Fuller at the University of Iowa for more information.
