Registering for your web space on ISU's Public server

Using Acropolis

1. Go to the Acropolis site: http://asw.iastate.edu

2. Login using your net-id and password.

3. Click the link labeled "Manage user yournet-id".

4. Click the link labeled "View/Edit your personal web page settings".

5. Click the link labeled "Register Web Page".

6. When you are finished, click the Logout button on the page.

The following is quoted from "Setting up and Registering a WWW Page on Project Vincent" I have included just the information that you would need to use to set up your WWW account.

The old way: Automated Setup

The setup_www command in the www locker on Project Vincent will create a directory, WWW in your home directory or locker (if it doesn't already exist) to store your web pages in, copy in a sample homepage.html (if you don't already have a homepage.html file in your WWW directory), sets the permissions to make the documents in the WWW directory accessible to the server, and registers your account or locker with the web server.
General Syntax of setup_www

vincent% setup_www [-l lockername]

Examples
To register your account, give the following commands:
vincent% add www
vincent% setup_www

Then, just follow the rest of the instructions, and your WWW directory will be ready for you to use.
