Tutorial 0001 - Capturing Video
These
instructions were written specifically for the video editing stations
in 434 and 446. However, they will also work, with slight modifications,
for use with a DV camcorder. This is one in a series which will take
you through the act of capturing, editing, and exporting a video.
1.
Cue up the first clip of video you would like to capture. It is best
to sit and plan which shots you need, so you can fast forward through
extra footage. You can always go back and capture more footage later
if needed.
2.
Launch iMovie and create a New Project. Name it imov0001.
3.
To import your clip, press play on the VCR and click the Import button
in iMovie. When you want to stop importing, click the import button
again. The tape will continue to play, but will not be imported. You
can fast forward to the next bit youÕd like to import.
4.
Continue importing footage until you have what you need. Pay attention
to the amount of drive space you have free.

Each
clip will be logged into the Clip drawer, ready to be cut, sliced and
diced and edited to its final masterpiece form!
