0012 - Printing to the Canon Color Printer - Windows Vista

If you are having problems printing to the Canon Color Printer, located in room 426, please read the following instructions.

1. Copy the Canon Windows Driver to your hard drive.
2. Delete your existing DOC Canon Color Printer from your Printers folder (select the icon, then right-click the icon, and choose Delete).
3. Click the Add Printer icon.
4. Click the "Add a local printer" button.
5. Click the "Create a new port" button, and select "Standard TCP/IP Port" from the list.
6. For the Hostname or IP address: doc-color1.design.iastate.edu. (Deselect the "Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use".) Click "Next."

7. Click the "Have Disk" button.
8. Click the "Browse" button.
9. Locate the Canon Windows Driver folder, and double-click the "XP" folder (trust me, the XP drivers work). Select the item "oemsetup", and click "Open".
10. Click OK until you get back to the Install the Printer Driver menu. You should see a short list of drivers available.

11. Select "Canon iR C3200-C1 PS Ver2.0", and click the Next button.
12. Change the printer name to "Lab Color Printer", and click Next.
13. On the next window, do not send a test print. We are not finished configuring the printer. Click the "Finish" button.
14. Select the Lab Color Printer icon, and right-click it. Choose "Properties" from the menu.
15. Click the "Ports" tab. The” Lab Color Printer” port should be selected by default. Click the "Configure Port" button.

16. Set the Protocol to "LPR". Set the Queue name to "HOLD" (must be in uppercase). Click the check box "LPR Byte Counting Enabled".

17. Click OK, then Close the Lab Color Printer Properties window. You are ready to Print.
