How to sign up for time on the laser cutter:

The laser cutter sign-up sheets are located in room 426 Design. You may sign up for no more than two consecutive hours, and for no more than two sessions a day during peak times (from mid-term to finals week).

If you need help with the laser cutter, please sign up at least 24 hours in advance, and mark the box labeled, "I need help." You will be trained in basic laser cutter operation during this help session. Help sessions are available Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am- noon, and from 1:00 - 4:00 pm, unless otherwise indicated on the sign-up sheet.

The new sign-up sheets are made available every Thursday morning, at 8:00 am (when the labs open).

Please be on time for your session. If you are more than 15 minutes late, you will forfeit your entire session, even if you are signed up for two hours. Please call if you cannot make your session, especially if it is a help session. This will allow us to open up those hours to other patrons.

Laser Cutter Sign-up Rules

These rules are in response to patron feedback, and should hopefully make the sign-up process more fair.

1. You may sign-up for yourself only. Please do not sign up for your friends. Their names will be erased. Talk to Jennifer if you cannot be here to sign up when the list comes out at 8:00 am, Thursdays. You can find a proxy who will be given permission to sign up for you. This will need to be someone who does not need to sign up for time for themselves.

2. You can sign up for no more than two hours a day. This applies to the Wait List as well as to the main list. If we see that you are signed up for more, we will cross out your name on the excess hours, and give the session to the person on the wait list.

3. Be considerate of the needs of others. If you are working on a group project, be careful to not monopolize the cutter. Groups may sign up for no more than 4 hours a day.

4. Write down your session times! Be here, on time so you do not forfeit your session! You will not be allowed to run over time! If you are more than 15 minutes late, you forfeit the entire session, even if you are signed up for two consecutive hours.

5. Be ready to cut when you arrive for your session! All files should be prepared and ready to go the moment you sit at the machine. It is very possible to do large amounts of cutting in an hour if you are prepared.

6. If you end up on the wait-list, be here at those times, ready to cut if the person on the main list does not show up, or is done early.
