Laser Cutter Information

Starting January 14, 2008, we will begin to charge for laser cutter time. We will be charging on a per minute basis, as listed below.

You must present your ISU card to the lab monitor when you check in. We will hold your card until the end of your session. All payment is through Cy-Cash only, so please make sure you have enough on your card before your session, to pay for your entire session. We can check your balance for you. No I.O.U.s allowed.

Usage Fee: $.10 per minute ($6.00/hour). There is a timer connected to the master power switch, which will record the total number of minutes that the machine is powered.

Training Fee: $1.00 for training, along with the cost of materials, and the
appropriate usage fee for the time the cutter is used.

Because of the per-minute charge for using the laser cutter, we were able to make some significant changes to the prices we were charging for materials. The following price list is subject to change if our suppliers prices change.

1/16 Clear Acrylic - $6.00
1/8 Clear Acrylic - $8.00
1/16 White Acrylic - $9.00
1/8 White Acrylic - $10.00
1/16 Black Acrylic - $9.00
1/8 Black Acrylic - $10.00
Chipboard - $1.50
Cardboard - $1.50
Basswood - $4.25

Instructions - Note: while you are free to download the instructions for using the laser cutters, you will not be allowed to use either laser cutter until you have gone through training.
