Lab Report I suppose that I could talk about some of these minor problems and how to get around them, but I'd don't want to scare everyone away. I'll just say that almost all of them have been solved, and anything else is in the process of being solved. I do have some good news to share! The 20 new Gateways finally arrived. Mike and I (with help from two lab monitors) spent Wednesday afternoon getting things unboxed and up on the tables. Then, we spent another hour plugging in keyboards, mice, monitors, and such. Mike spent a long time making sure that all of the software was loaded and that everything worked. All of you who have been waiting for these machines should say "Thank you!" to Mike! They are really close to being ready to use! Almost everything that was ordered for the labs has arrived and been installed. I am hoping to have everything ready to go in the next couple of weeks. Actually, I was hoping to have everything done before classes started, but Murphey's Law kicked the heck out of that plan. So, keep looking for new and exciting changes in the labs! Have a good, safe Labor Day holiday! -J Jennifer Nieland is the lab coordinator for the College of the Design student computer labs. She is currently wondering how the heck she is going to get 40 boxes down to the loading dock by 5:00 (not gonna happen). |
