Lab Materials! We now have several resource books, with multiple copies, that you can check out from the labs. These books will be available for overnight checkout. Just ask the lab monitor for details. Additional books are available on reserve in the Design Reading Room.
We also have a new firewire scanner in room 446! The new scanner has built-in transparency capabilities, with the ability to do batch scanning for slides AND multiple select capabilities for flatbed scanning. This scanner produces very high quality scans and is very fast! You can check out the different transparency frames at the monitor station in 434. In addition, due to the increased use of the CD burner this past year, we have added another burner to our list of peripherals that can be reserved and checked out. The Que! CD-Rewritable offers support for both Macintosh and Windows computers equipped with a USB port. We have Toast Pro for our Mac users and Easy CD Creator for our Windows users. Instructions are provided for both software packages. The burner will accept regular CD-R disks as well as CD-RW disks. Blank CDs can be found at the bookstore or at most department stores with a computer section. Both burners must be reserved in advance, weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and must be turned in on time. That's it for now, but wait until you see the labs next fall! We have major upgrades in the works! J Jennifer Nieland is the lab coordinator for the College of the Design student computer labs. |
