|
Field trips are integral to design education at Iowa State and occur at all levels. Day trips to local design firms, manufacturers and historical sites are common in most studios and lecture courses.
Program fees vary from semester to semester
Extended trips to Minneapolis, Chicago, and Toronto are taken in the sophomore, junior, and senior years respectively. These trips expose students to a variety of design practices both in size and scope. First hand exposure to historical and contemporary architecture, interiors and furnishings help broaden students' awareness of design developments and their applications in the classroom. Tours of manufacturing facilities provide unique learning opportunities.
An optional trip to New York City is available for juniors and seniors in the spring semester.
