General Information and Procedures
The interior design program includes two types of field trips: (1) out-of-state trips included in the degree requirement and (2) course related trips, general one-day and in-state. Similar field trips are included as a part of the study-abroad Rome program.

Prior to participating any field trips, each student must read, complete, and sign two documents: Field trip conditions of Participation and Waiver of liability & hold harmless agreement.

Payment
Payment for field trips is made through ISU student fee account. Students not attending a required field trip will be held financially responsible for his/her portion of the trip expenses that can not be canceled/refunded by the vendor prior to departure or that are part of the general expenses to be equally divided by the total number of participants. The latter may include (but not limited to) cost of transportation, planning expenses, faculty travel expenses and group lodging contracts.
 

Program required trips

ArtID 259 Spring semester, 3 days, Minneapolis/St. Paul,
 
The cost is approximately $250 for transportation, hotel, and admission fees plus faculty and planning expenses. Visits include museums, design firms, International Market Square, and historic houses.
 
ArtID 359 Fall semester, 4 days, Chicago vicinity.
 
The cost is approximately $300 for transportation, hotel, admission fee plus faculty and planning expenses. Tour sites in the past included tours of lighting manufacture factory and demonstration facility, upholstered seating factory, casegood/booth factory, two design firms, Frank Lloyd Wright home/studio, FLW in Oak Park, Chicago, Art Institute, Merchandise Mart showrooms, Chicago Architectural walk.
 
ArtID 459 Fall semester, 5 days, Toronto or other non midwestern major metropolitan area.
 
Past trips have included an exchange with Ryerson University Interior Design program, Tecknion factory and showroom tour, visits to three design firms, Bata Shoe museum, Design Exchange and retail stores. The cost is approximately $750 for airfare, hotel, local transportation, admission fees, faculty expenses and planning expenses.
