In addition to the Department of Art and Design Scholarships available-for which students must apply-two Graphic Design Program Scholarships are available to highly motivated, high achieving graphic design majors.

The Roger Baer Sophomore Scholarship is a scholarship awarded to one graphic design major at the end of his/her sophomore year. Students are nominated by their graphic design professors based upon the student's classroom performance, attitude, design performance and abilities. Nominees submit a portfolio and resume. The ISU Graphic Design faculty review the submitted materials and select the scholarship winner. Nomination and selection generally takes place in the spring semester of the student's sophomore year.

The Art Directors Associate of Iowa (ADAI) Scholarship is a scholarship awarded to one graphic design junior enrolled at each of the Iowa colleges and universities offering graphic design. The faculty at each institution selects one student. At ISU, students are nominated by their graphic design professors and nominations are based upon the student's classroom performance, attitude, design performance and abilities Nominees submit a portfolio and resume. The ISU Graphic Design faculty review the submitted materials and select the scholarship winner. Nomination and selection usually takes place late in the fall semester of the junior year and the award is usually given at an ADAI meeting in the spring. The scholarship winner is highly encouraged to attend this meeting.

The Janice Petersen Anderson Medal. Every spring, faculty from each of the programs-Graphic Design, Interior Design, Integrated Studio Arts, etc.-nominate one outstanding senior. Nominees submit a resume and portfolio and the Art and Design JPA Selection Committee selects one winner based upon the candidate's work and potential to achieve professional success. The JPA medal is awarded at the College Awards Day in the spring.  Graphic Design professors nominate several graphic design students who submit a portfolio and resume. The winner is selected based upon the strength of the portfolio, overall performance and attitude over the course of their education, and their promise for professional success. The winner then progresses to the Department JPA Selection Committee.
