Here is what past students have said about the Design Exchange:
"I didn't really know what I was getting myself into, but I am
so glad I joined now. The Design Exchange program is one of the easiest
and best ways to make a bunch of really close friends your first year
in design. I've found that living on a floor that consists of mostly
design students, I get more work done. Everyone understands what you
are going through and everyone helps each other get through. Many ideas
are shared, and there are so many people to take advice from on the
floor. I think this is such a great program to orient first year design
majors into the field. I've learned a lot about art and a lot more
about relations with others through this class."
Becky Mayes, Interior Design
"Living among people with whom you share some of the same classes, problems, and hopes is great!"
James Brown, Architecture
"I think the best thing about the Design Exchange is
the opportunity to live with other design students. This has kept me
focused and inspired to do my best on all projects. It is great to be
in an environment with people who are going through the same things
that you are and it has greatly helped me adjust to college life. Thanks!"
Kim Nelson, Graphic Design
"Living with the people in the class was helpful and enjoyable getting to know them."
James Carlson, Landscape Architecture
"One positive thing that I have gained from the
Design Exchange Program is how to communicate to my peers so that they
might better understand me. The Design Exchange has also given me a
taste of what it would be like to work with the different types of
design, and the designers on a day to day basis in a business setting.
I can't even imagine how my year or for that matter how my grades would
be if I hadn't gotten into the Design Exchange I believe that the
instructors, mentors, and class syllabus had a great part in this. Thanks again."
Sheriffa Wright-Linden, Architecture
"I really feel the design exchange program made all
of the difference for me in my freshmen year as a design student. Not
only have I been able to share ideas with other students in my field,
but I have really enjoyed the support we have been able to provide each other."
Genevieve Borich, Community and Regional Planning
