| 2008 FAQ | PORTFOLIO - DSNS 102 WORK |
• Should we include pictures of photomontage and postcard " the original? Yes. For the Poster Project in 102, it is a good idea to include small reference images of your photomontage and postcard precedents on your process board(s). • How should I handle the DsnS 102 Project 4 in the portfolio? Consider this to be a part of Project 1. The drawing you produce for Project 4 can count as one of your 3 pages for the Doorway project. • Can I mount smaller drawings on a 18x24 paper? Yes, you should do this. This will prevent work on smaller pieces of paper from getting 'lost” within the portfolio. • Do we need to include every project that we have done in DsnS 102 in the portfolio? You must have a minimum of two pages plus a process board - 3 pages total - for each of the three projects. The fourth project is considered to be part of the first project (doorway) for portfolio purposes. Refer to the requirements for 102 work on the website (http://www.design.iastate.edu/CORE/port.php ). • If we do not like a project, can we rework it? If we do, must we place both the original and new piece in the portfolio? Yes, you may rework it to improve the quality. You do not need to place both pieces in the portfolio, but you may want to include an image of the earlier piece on a process board. If you do include both pieces, you may want to indicate which came earlier and why it was revised. • Should every final project have process pages before it? For 102, each project must have at least one process page. • For door models, should we include our notes, ideas? Absolutely include notes, sketches, and other items that help to represent your ideas in the process of the doorway project. Edit your materials to include the most important elements. You may want to explain how you made decisions, which models were developed further, etc. • What do you suggest about putting doorway pictures with group members in them in the portfolio? This is okay. The portfolio reviewers still will not know whether you are in the photo, which member of the team you are, or what your name is. However, the focus of the portfolio should be the work, so use images that clearly show the doorway project. Updated 05/02/08-09:18 PID:1367 |
