Letter format, design and style: Formatting letters and designing the page layout is a matter of personal preference and should be appropriate for your major and audience. Visual communication is essential when applying for design positions. Your letters, resume, and reference page should be designed as a total package with consistency of style, typography, color, paper and layout. Many students design personalized letterhead to use as headings for both letters and resumes.
