A NEW student poster design competition has been announced by the Center for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities (CEAH). Please distribute this announcement to students in your college. A Word doc flyer is attached for hallway display.
 
Award: $300
Deadline: March 24th, 2008
Award announced: April 2008
 
The winning poster design will advertise the 08-09 CEAH annual programming series Sustaining the Earth in print media locally, statewide, and nationally, and on the Center's website.  Students interested in participating in this design competition should register with the Center to receive details on the programming series after Tuesday, January 29th, 2008.

Juried Art Exhibit CALL FOR ENTRIES
 
The Student Union Board (SUB) is issuing a call for entries for Of a Certain Size, a spring student juried art exhibition at the Memorial Union.
 
Of a Certain Size is open to any student currently enrolled at Iowa State University.  The purpose of this exhibit is to give the spotlight to smaller artworks that are sometimes overlooked in juried exhibits.  The maximum framed dimension of 2D work is 11x14 inches and for 3D work is 12x12x12 inches. 
 
Up to three entries in any media will be accepted.  The artwork drop-off date for jurying is Monday, February 11th from 10 am - 2 pm in the MU Pioneer Room.  The exhibit will be on display February 14 

 
 
Greeting Card Design Competition: Hallmark
Now  you  have  the  opportunity  to  create  cards  that  help  loved ones
connect while  also  connecting the Global Fund annd people living with AIDS
in  Africa.  That's  the power of
RED. Now a card can not only brighten a
friend's  day,  but  its  power can keep going all the way to Africa. So go
ahead.  Connect yourself to the power of (RED), whatever that means to you.
Design  the  front of a greeting card in the RED theme. We will
publish the best, and everyone will weigh in to award the grand prize.


I hope some of you are willing to try it out (or at least check it out) and
encourage students, friends, and family to do the same.

The Student Poster Competition for the Iowa Latino Heritage Festival

This competition is open to all students currently enrolled in an Iowa College or University.  This is a great opportunity to showcase your designing skills within Iowa and the surrounding states.  Our event is now ranked the largest ethnic event in the state of Iowa and the winning poster is used in all advertisements, billboards, mall kiosks, and the winner is recognized at the opening ceremony of the festival.  For application details, contact:

2008: Next Generation Design Competition, Metropolis Magazine  
 
"Water", Deadline: Friday, Jan. 4, 2008 
The 2008 competition specifically seeks entries that address water consumption, reclamation and efficiency, at all scales of design.

The entry fee is $75 per submission. Up to three submissions will be accepted from an individual or team of collaborators. A separate application and entry fee is required for each project submitted. Projects must be submitted electronically via the online submission form by 11:59 p.m. Jan. 4, 2008.

2007 Monsters of Design Competition 

Early registration ends on August 31st.  Late registration is from Sept 1-7th. All students in architecture, interior architecture, interior design, landscape, industrial design and environmental graphics are encouraged to enter. Sixth Annual Urban Land Institute Gerald D. Hines Student Urban Design Competition

Application Deadline (to verify eligibility): 5 p.m. EST (4 p.m. CST) Friday, Dec. 7, 2007

This is an interdisciplinary ideas competition open to graduate students in real estate and design (especially architecture, landscape architecture, and planning) in the US and Canada. The competition site, to be announced to eligible teams on Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, will present a problem requiring multiple solutions: design, planning, market potential and feasibility, and development and financing.

New for 2008:
-- Two full weeks for competition stage
-- Seventh board of just financial information
-- Jury feedback forms for every team
-- Online forum on Facebook

This is an ideas competition only; there is no guarantee or expectation that any of the submitted schemes will be applied to the site. The winning team receives $50,000 and finalist teams receive $10,000 each.
